Vintage Dog Bone Click Clack Lounge Chair - $200Los Angeles Scavenger

This dog bone shaped Click Clack lounge chair is listed as being in "fairly good vintage condition", but looks pretty good to me. For $200 it should be worth checking out, even if it needs a bit of restoration. Read more...

Color Me Happy in Bright Florals

Florals are back with a vengeance this season in bold and bright colors, and I love it so. You can wear them all spring and summer long, but I especially like them right now, in this moment where spring is trying its darnedest to emerge but winter still has a (dreary, cold) grip on things. Wearing a vibrant, fun floral is like saying to nature, "I'm ready when you are, dear spring! Hope to see you soon!"Missy Dress by Broken Doll ClothingSweetshrub Top at Spool No. Read more...

sewing 101: ottoman slip cover

If you’ve got a boring old ottoman hanging around, or if, like me, if you happen to find one of those plain cubes on sale, it’s easy to recover with a custom slip cover.  This is another fantastic way to bring some fun textiles into a room with a project that you can sew in an afternoon or less. (I swear!) This slip cover uses only basic straight seams, and I’ll show you the trick for getting nice, sharp 3-D corners. Read more...

Hollister & Porter's Williamsburg Safari House Tour

Name: Hollister Hovey & Porter Hovey Location: Williamsburg, Brooklyn Size: 1,400 square feet Years lived in: rented, 4&frac12: years A few misconceptions about the Hovey's. They are not big-game hunters from the 1930's. They are sisters from Kansas City with the given names Hollister and Porter. They are not taxidermists. Hollister works in PR and Porter for a management consulting firm. They are not hoarders. They are collectors of awesomeness. Read more...

Creative Spaces: Photography by Paul Barbera

I'm always fascinated by the workspaces of artists and designers. I love the paint-splattered floors, the discarded scraps, the stained surfaces cluttered with dripping jars and mangled tubes. I love the sparse, utilitarian fixtures, the serendipitous vignettes and, of course, the light. Read more...

Jonathan Adler Dachshund Bookends

I am still thinking about that pretty vintage puppy party that I featured yesterday… oh that was just so adorable. And now that I’m thinking about dogs, I thought I’d share quickly those bookends that I ordered from Barnes and Noble last year (post here) because I realized this morning that I never showed you how they look in-situ. It took about a month for them to reach me (int’l shipping is always slow), but now that I have them I can’t imagine owning any other bookends. Read more...
